Comparing and Mental Health

How does comparing yourself to people on social media affect mental health? This is a very interesting topic but it’s also very common. Though i will say, comparing yourself to someone else started so many years ago. But speciffically, how is it on social media?

Since teens and young adults were born around the time technology was mad, they’re more tied to it than older people. Along with how they are the “future”. Which is true but again, who wouldn’t feel pressured to try and be better? That would just make it worse and they would start comparing themselves to someone possibly better, at least in their eyes.

Now, what do i mean by that? Pressure that the world is in your hands would shift you if your confidence is low, no? Then, they would start comparing themselves not even only with friends, with strangers even. It’s worse on social media due to how if you like a video about someone pretty or whatever, then it’s going to continue to pop up on the feed. Then it won’t ever stop till you get off that app.

It affects mental health terribly so it’s hard to ignore. Especially due to the fact on how common that is. I do believe it should stop, but it can’t unless confidence is fixed. It isn’t right to compare, social media or not.
