Have you ever heard of Mrs. Brittan Brown? Well, now you have. Marie is a woman who made the first house security system. She was Born the 30th of October, 1922 Manhattan, New York. She started off as a nurse, and her husband, Albert Brown, was an electronic technician. What made her want to make a security system?
As a nurse, she obviously worked long hours, and so did her husband. Whenever she left for work, he was home, when she got home, he was at work. Being alone and in New York at the time spiked up some worry in her. Being afraid since she lived in a pretty high crime rate place, she decided she wanted to be more safe in her own home.
In 1966, with the help of her husband, they invented a security system. The system included peepholes, a sliding camera, television monitors, and two-way microphones. Those items all together made a television system for surveillance, now known as CCTV. The multiple peepholes and the sliding camera helped them see from the camera with people who were different heights.
In 1969, just 3 years later, they received a patent for the invention. Her work was highly appreciated due to how New York had a very high crime rate, and made people feel more safe. She unfortunately passed away at the age of 76 in 1999. Without her work, I bet that most of us will feel unsafe, so, many thanks to her and her husband.
