He was born on March 2, 1957, in Jefferson City, Tennessee. While he was young, he loved building stuff and continued to do it. At school he was a gifted athlete, student who graduated with straight A’s, he even made a tractor from scratch with his father helping. He graduated at the top of his class, University of Tennessee in 1979 then he started studying engineering. After college he went straight to work and got a job at IBM (International Business Machines).
In that company they help other companies manage, and secure data across environments. And he eventually becomes associated with it; he became a rising star in company. While working clos with a colleague he would do something to leave a mark on his record. Him and Dennis Moeller developed ISA (Industry Standard Architecture) it was a new system that made it possible for peripheral devices like disk drives, printers and monitors to be plugged directly into computers. His amazing work didn’t stop there.
Him being at IBM it helped change his accessibility and power of the personal computer. His work eventually led to the development of the color PC monitor and in 1999 something almost everyone uses today. So, as it stands now to this day, he is currently 68 and his accomplishments are developing a number of landmark technologies for IBM, along with the color PC monitor and the first gigahertz chip. He also holds three of the company’s original nine patents and developed the Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) bus for peripherals.
A fun fact about him is that he is a Pisces. All the schools he went to are University of Tennessee, Stanford University, and Florida Atlantic University.
